Much like the island, our salt is beautifully simple. Unspoilt and unrefined, Sark Sea Salt is 100% organic and made using time honoured traditions to deliver a rich and intensely full-bodied flavour.

Our story.

Founded by Jonathan Bird, Sark Sea Salt was born through an emotive connection to the sea, a passion for cooking and a love of the rugged Sark landscape he was brought up on.

Our island.

Often considered the crown jewel of the Channel Islands, Sark is one of the most unique places on earth. Accessible only by boat, it remains unspoilt and unchanged by time.

Our process.

Collect.

Collected off the wild Sark coastline, the seawater passes through our double filtration system to remove any natural impurities, before being stored in our salt house ready for the evaporation process.

Solar evaporate.

Each salt flake is produced through the natural process of solar evaporation. As we only use energy from the sun and wind to dry our salt, it retains all its natural minerals to give a robust, distinctive flavour.

Hand-harvest.

Once dried, the salt is sieved, sorted and packaged completely by hand. Due to our solar evaporation technique, our salt has comparatively large flakes that burst with raw flavours of the ocean.
